How to Keep Your SAVA Bike in Top Shape?

Riding a bike is a great way to get around, stay in shape, and have fun. However, just like any other machine, bikes need regular maintenance to keep them running smoothly and safely. Whether you're a seasoned cyclist or a newcomer to the sport, this bicycle maintenance guide will help you keep your bike in top shape.

Clean your SAVA bike regularly

Regularly cleaning your SAVA bike is crucial for proper maintenance. Dirt, grime, and dust tend to accumulate on the frame, gears, and other parts, potentially causing rust, corrosion, and other issues. To clean your bike effectively, utilize a soft cloth and a mild soap solution. Avoid using excessive water or harsh cleaning agents, as they can harm the bike's components.

So, how should the carbon fiber frame be maintained? What matters should be noted?

No sharp objects and excessive force

Although carbon fiber material offers high stress performance, sharp objects or excessive compression of the fastening device may damage the carbon fiber structure. This manual includes recommended torque values for bicycle parts; please adhere to these values when tightening the parts. If adjustments to position or angle are necessary, loosen the parts before doing so.

When repairing or loading carbon fiber bikes onto parking racks, avoid clamping on the main body of the frame. Pay attention to the clamping position during repairs and assembly, ensuring not to clamp the frame.

Exercise caution when clamping the frame tube with a repair stand or car bike rack, avoiding squeezing the bike. For mailing or transporting the bike, it's advisable to use the original carton for packaging. If the carton is unavailable, visit the store to pack it and use protective film to wrap the frame and accessories.

Use carbon fiber special anti-slip agent

The relatively low torque needed for carbon fiber frames and parts presents the disadvantage of potential slipping. When installing or adjusting carbon fiber seat tubes and handlebars, avoid over-tightening. Apply carbon fiber non-slip agent evenly to the parts requiring tightening to enhance friction between contact surfaces, preventing slipping, and then tighten them to the appropriate torque.

The non-slip agent is suitable for use on carbon fiber seat tubes, handlebars, full carbon fiber saddle bows, and locking parts of carbon fiber fork riser handlebars.

No high temperature exposure

While carbon fiber is resistant to high temperatures, prolonged exposure to sunlight may damage the exterior paint. Therefore, avoid exposing your bike to high temperatures outdoors or storing it indoors in a vehicle with high temperatures.

Regular cleaning

Regular frame cleaning also serves as an opportunity to inspect the bike. While cleaning the frame, carefully examine it for any signs of damage or scratches. Refrain from using non-professional chemical solvents to clean the frame. Instead, we recommend utilizing a professional bike cleaner.

Avoid using strong acids, strong alkalis (such as detergents, sweat, salt), or other chemical-based cleaning agents on your carbon bike to prevent damage to the frame paint.

Check the tire pressure regularly

Another crucial aspect of bike maintenance is checking tire pressure. Under-inflated tires can make riding more difficult and raise the risk of punctures, while over-inflated tires can result in a bumpy ride and increase the chance of a blowout. To check tire pressure, utilize a bike pump or gauge. Most bike tires feature a recommended pressure range printed on the side.

Lubricate the moving parts

Lubrication plays a vital role in maintaining the smooth operation of your bike and reducing friction between moving parts. It's essential to regularly lubricate the chain, derailleur, brake and shift cables, and other moving components. Opt for a bike-specific lubricant, as certain lubricants may cause harm to your bike's components.

Check and adjust the brakes

Brakes are among the most critical safety features of a bike. Regularly inspect them to ensure they're functioning correctly and not worn out. If the brake pads show signs of wear, replace them promptly. Should you notice that the brakes aren't performing optimally, adjust the brake cable tension accordingly.

Check the gears

Gears are essential for optimal bike performance. Regularly inspect them to ensure smooth shifting and prevent skipping. If you notice any issues with gear shifting, adjust the cable tension or seek professional servicing to ensure smooth operation.
