AURORA: FAST or EASY- the benefits of Everyone’s Aero
A SAVA staple: the AURORA delivers aero-engineering to everyone and combines it with the modern versatility that makes it the go-to for athletes the world over.
It’s no question that that the race to build the ‘most aero bike’ is well and truly on, but let’s be honest here: not only are ‘super bikes’ as expensive as a jet, but us mortals are being asked to spend comfort and usability in the interests of saving mere seconds over the length of a century ride. …Not to mention, they can be pretty polarizing to look at, and even more polarizing to own if we’re not winning the local crit or on the podium at the Tour du France.
However, since we know that aerodynamic drag is the greatest force counteracting your speed, it would be ‘simply irresponsible’ to design a performance bike without considerations for drag reduction. Not worried about going "fast"? Think about making your ride easier. Less drag means you move through the wind with less effort, so whether you want speed or efficiency, everyone benefits from better aerodynamics.
So what are the drag-saving design features found on the AURORA? Working from the top front to the rear, the AURORA offers technologies that are proven to benefit bike-performance, and present no challenges to rider fit, nor to component integration.
-
Internal Cable Routing: The AURORA utilizes a smart routing system that tucks hoses and cables out of the wind by routing them in front of the stem, rather than through it. This simplifies bike fitting, allows for custom stem choices, and makes servicing easier. Does it matter? Yes. When combined with the AURORA’s airfoil-shaped handlebar, this cleaner front end reduces drag by up to 10 watts. That is free energy for you to spend however you see fit.
-
The Fork “Chin”: A subtle but powerful feature, the molded "chin" at the rear of the fork allows airflow to remain attached to the frame as it transitions from the fork to the downtube. By keeping the air "attached" and moving smoothly over these surfaces, we significantly reduce drag at the back of the headtube.
-
Raised Downtube: Behind the top of the fork—where it meets the downtube—is a high-turbulence area. Here, the air moving backward (wind) collides with air being pulled upward by your spinning front tire. By opening up the space in this collision zone, the AURORA releases the pressure and drastically lowers potential drag.
-
Rear-Wheel Cut-out: This is ground zero for efficiency. We shaped the trailing edge of the seat tube to partially shield the rear wheel. This creates a complete airfoil shape, where the seat tube acts as the leading edge and the rim completes the profile. This manages one of the most complex airflow zones on a bike, keeping the air attached as it moves across the wheel.
The Value Proposition
The AURORA punches well above its weight class. While it is standard industry practice to use lower-grade materials to hit budget targets, every AURORA frame is manufactured using the same "High Modulus" carbon backbone normally reserved for elite price categories.
What does this mean for you? The AURORA accelerates instantly, remains stable at high speeds, and absorbs road vibration effectively, keeping you fresh for tomorrow's adventure.
